Before the week is out, we thought we’d write an update on our Wellbeing Wednesday Challenge. So just in case you were holding your breath and wondering if we did manage to eat Chia Seeds every day for one week – you probably weren’t, but we’ll tell you anyway – we did it!
Giddy with the taste of success (we’ve already mentioned chia seeds don’t really taste like anything), we thought we’d tackle something a little trickier. Something we know we should do but never get around to doing – or do once every two weeks for 30 seconds at a time when we ought to be doing it every morning for at least 5 minutes – that’s right, we’re looking at you dry body brush.
We’ve already written about the benefits of skin brushing – it’s fantastic to stimulate lymphatic circulation and help shoo toxins in the body out. Dry body brushing is also a gentle way to exfoliate skin, and with persistence it can help break down cellulite. So why aren’t we doing it more often?
We generally take our own advice, except with this particular brushing business. Our avoidance comes down to:
- patience rarely extending past brushing for over 1 mn
- a very cold bathroom not conducive to wanting to strip and brush for 5 mn or more every single day
But that’s all about to change. We’re going into this one with a military diligence that will include timing every dry skin brushing session: absolutely no less than 5 mn – and absolutely every morning. No shrinking and no skipping. This time next week our lymph should be nicely circulating and our skin should be smooth and glowing. Challenge accepted.
If you want to join in, please do – and if you need a refresher in your dry brush technique, have a look at our how-to here. To the dry brush folks!
